Alina Ogorodnikova: Volunteer Work in Writing Grant Proposals
Success
At the IDEA Educational Center Alina Ogorodnikova, a student of foreign languages from a university in Ryazan, not only acquired basic computer skills but also learned to work with information flows and resources. She is now a competent volunteer of the IDEA Center and takes part in developing grant proposals. She is also constantly on the lookout for Internet resources which will foster her professional development as a translator and interpreter.
Overview
Alina has often heard from senior colleagues just how important it is to be precise in translating general documentation and especially grant proposals as one works with foreign partners. For a young specialist wishing to participate in international volunteer projects it’s important for to gain as much experience in this field as possible. The IDEA Educational Center gave Alina both an opportunity to take part in volunteer projects and a chance for professional development in the sphere of information and communication. At the IDEA Center Alina was introduced to advantages and limitations of on-line translation as well as standard requirements for writing grant proposals for volunteer projects both in Russian and English. Now Alina teaches other students who don’t have sufficient Internet skills how to search for and find information on grant programs for participating in educational summer camps and understand grant givers’ requirements.
